Slovakia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of non-wheat groats exports from the Czech Republic, together accounting for 80% of total exports. Croatia, Hungary, Serbia and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+42.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of groats and meal of cereals (excluding wheat), when their volume decreased by -9.4% to X tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +85.5% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, non-wheat groats imports fell slightly to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +79.0% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-wheat groats to the Czech Republic, with a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, non-wheat groats imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovakia (X tons), twofold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland amounted to -2.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+107.4% per year) and Hungary (+69.0% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of groats and meal of cereals (excluding wheat) to the Czech Republic, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Hungary, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland amounted to -3.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (+78.8% per year) and Hungary (+65.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average non-wheat groats import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
