In 2022, supplies from abroad of concrete reinforcing bars increased by 25% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 92%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of concrete reinforcing bar imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 76% of total imports. Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Russia, Romania and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.
