Industrial Fatty Alcohols Market Size in the Czech Republic

In 2021, the Czech industrial fatty alcohols market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. In general, consumption enjoyed a remarkable increase. Industrial fatty alcohols consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

For the third year in a row, the Czech Republic recorded decline in shipments abroad of industrial fatty alcohols, which decreased by -27.3% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports faced a significant decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, industrial fatty alcohols exports stood at $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a precipitous decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for industrial fatty alcohols exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 41% share of total exports. Moreover, industrial fatty alcohols exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Serbia (X tons), with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland totaled -29.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-8.7% per year) and Serbia (+35.8% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Belarus ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for industrial fatty alcohols exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, with a combined 73% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Serbia, Belgium, Ukraine and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 26%.

Ukraine, with a CAGR of +57.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average industrial fatty alcohols export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, industrial fatty alcohols export price increased by +66.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+29.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of industrial fatty alcohols increased by 49% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 86%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, industrial fatty alcohols imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 102% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest industrial fatty alcohols supplier to the Czech Republic, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial fatty alcohols imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Spain (X tons), with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +26.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+26.3% per year) and Spain (+150.5% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of industrial fatty alcohols to the Czech Republic, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +23.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+24.9% per year) and Spain (+133.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average industrial fatty alcohols import price amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
