The Czech industrial robot market dropped dramatically to $X in 2021, waning by -53.4% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw buoyant growth. Industrial robot consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In 2021, overseas shipments of industrial robots for multiple uses decreased by -49.7% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 65%. The exports peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, industrial robot exports contracted sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 103% against the previous year. Exports by Country

The United States (X units) was the main destination for industrial robot exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 30% share of total exports. Moreover, industrial robot exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Slovakia (X units), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +70.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+46.5% per year) and Slovakia (+11.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for industrial robot exported from the Czech Republic were Germany ($X), Slovakia ($X) and North Macedonia ($X), with a combined 44% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Poland, Serbia, the UK, Belarus, Norway, Thailand, India and Israel, which together accounted for a further 41%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +48.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average industrial robot export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -22.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 43%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was growth in overseas purchases of industrial robots for multiple uses, when their volume increased by 2.4% to X units. In general, imports saw a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 101% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, industrial robot imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X units) constituted the largest supplier of industrial robot to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial robot imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (X units), fivefold. Austria (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany stood at +7.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (-0.6% per year) and Austria (+3.9% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of industrial robots for multiple uses to the Czech Republic, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Austria, with a 5.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany stood at +9.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (+7.4% per year) and Austria (+7.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average industrial robot import price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 20% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, industrial robot import price increased by +105.9% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the price for Austria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
