Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lamb and sheep meat exports shrank slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for lamb and sheep meat exports from the Czech Republic, with a 81% share of total exports. Moreover, lamb and sheep meat exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Hungary (X tons), with a 4.5% share.

In 2021, overseas purchases of lamb and sheep meat decreased by -2.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, lamb and sheep meat imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years.
