Maize Market Size in the Czech Republic

The Czech maize market fell remarkably to $X in 2022, reducing by -16% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for maize exports from the Czech Republic, with a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, maize exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.3% share.

Imports into the Czech Republic

Maize imports into the Czech Republic contracted to X tons in 2022, waning by -9% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 38%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, maize imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) were the main suppliers of maize imports to the Czech Republic, with a combined 56% share of total imports. Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +25.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
