For the third year in a row, the Czech mango and mangosteen market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 4% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption recorded a prominent expansion. Exports from the Czech Republic

In 2022, mango and mangosteen exports from the Czech Republic dropped sharply to X tons, falling by -38% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mango and mangosteen exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for mango and mangosteen exports from the Czech Republic, with a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, mango and mangosteen exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bulgaria (X tons), fourfold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia stood at +4.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (+133.3% per year) and Hungary (+2.8% per year).

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for mangoes, mangosteens and guavas exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovakia totaled +7.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+49.5% per year) and Hungary (+7.1% per year).

The average mango and mangosteen export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 23% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mango and mangosteen export price increased by +95.0% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2022, mango and mangosteen imports into the Czech Republic rose to X tons, increasing by 2.5% against the previous year. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a resilient expansion.
