Matches Market Size in the Czech Republic

In 2021, the Czech matches market increased by 0.4% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, consumption showed a slight slump. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, matches exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 66%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for matches exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, matches exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), threefold. Imports into the Czech Republic

Matches imports into the Czech Republic surged to X tons in 2021, jumping by 23% against 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 195%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
