For the sixth year in a row, the Czech Republic recorded growth in overseas shipments of mixed condiments, sauses and seasonings, which increased by 20% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +95.0% against 2012 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia amounted to +8.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+19.8% per year) and Poland (+3.1% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for mixed condiment, sause and seasoning exported from the Czech Republic were Slovakia ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 59% share of total exports. Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, Romania, Spain, Hungary and Croatia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In general, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.8% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Moreover, mixed condiment, sause and seasoning imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Spain (X tons), with an 11% share.

Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
