The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +106.5% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, natural polymers exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 34%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

The Netherlands (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of natural polymers exports from the Czech Republic, together comprising 53% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +74.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest markets for natural polymers exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together accounting for 33% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, Slovakia, Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Kazakhstan and Morocco, which together accounted for a further 24%.

The average natural polymers export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -26.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 37%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+21.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms, when their volume decreased by -49% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 102% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, natural polymers imports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +4.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 62%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

China (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of natural polymers imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 71% of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, Poland, Denmark, France and the UK, which together accounted for a further 20%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +61.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
