Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of nitric and sulphonitric acids exports from the Czech Republic, together accounting for 95% of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, which accounted for a further 2.7%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +32.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of nitric acid and sulphonitric acids, when their volume decreased by -67% to X tons. In general, imports, however, showed a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 563% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, nitric and sulphonitric acids imports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 429%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Slovakia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of nitric and sulphonitric acids to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, nitric and sulphonitric acids imports from Slovakia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X tons), fourfold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Slovakia amounted to +5.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+10.7% per year) and Poland (-3.8% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of nitric acid and sulphonitric acids to the Czech Republic, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Slovakia amounted to +5.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+5.6% per year) and Germany (+0.2% per year).

In 2021, the average nitric and sulphonitric acids import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 56% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
