In 2021, shipments abroad of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles increased by 8.4% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after five years of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 500% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 241%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
France (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of non-alloy aluminium bar exports from the Czech Republic, together comprising 57% of total exports. These countries were followed by Romania, Italy, Slovakia, Lithuania, Austria, Australia, Bulgaria, the UK, Serbia and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +45.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the largest markets for non-alloy aluminium bar exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together accounting for 54% of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Italy, Romania, Lithuania, Austria, the UK, Australia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 37%.
The UK, with a CAGR of +46.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average non-alloy aluminium bar export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-alloy aluminium bar export price increased by +28.7% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 34% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, after six years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles, when their volume increased by 150% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 281% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 190% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-alloy aluminium bar to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, non-alloy aluminium bar imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), sixfold. Denmark (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland stood at +24.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+4.3% per year) and Denmark (+89.8% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles to the Czech Republic, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Denmark, with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Poland amounted to +22.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.1% per year) and Denmark (+77.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-alloy aluminium bar import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iceland (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
