In 2021, the Czech non-wheat flour market increased by 6.7% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In 2021, shipments abroad of non-wheat flours decreased by -27.1% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, exports, however, showed a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 86% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-wheat flour exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for non-wheat flour exports from the Czech Republic, with a 74% share of total exports. Moreover, non-wheat flour exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), sevenfold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia stood at +1.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+24.1% per year) and Germany (+40.4% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for non-wheat flour exported from the Czech Republic were Slovakia ($X), Croatia ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 78% share of total exports.

Croatia, with a CAGR of +170.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-wheat flour export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 64% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a buoyant increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of decline, overseas purchases of non-wheat flours increased by 11% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 75%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-wheat flour imports reached $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Italy (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-wheat flour imports to the Czech Republic, with a combined 49% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Mexico (with a CAGR of +55.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Mexico ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest non-wheat flour suppliers to the Czech Republic, together accounting for 49% of total imports.
