Orange Market Size in the Czech Republic
After two years of growth, the Czech orange market decreased by -16.1% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Orange consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovakia amounted to -12.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+8.9% per year) and Germany (-0.6% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for oranges exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 5.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovakia amounted to -11.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+7.3% per year) and Germany (+0.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average orange export price amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Romania ($X per ton) and Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
After four years of growth, purchases abroad of oranges decreased by -9.9% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, orange imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest orange supplier to the Czech Republic, with a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, orange imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Greece (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Egypt (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Spain totaled -1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (-2.6% per year) and Egypt (+20.1% per year).
In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of oranges to the Czech Republic, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Greece ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Spain totaled -1.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+0.7% per year) and Egypt (+20.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average orange import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
