Crude Palm Oil Market Size in the Czech Republic

The Czech crude palm oil market surged to $X in 2022, growing by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. Crude palm oil consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of crude palm oil decreased by -40.7% to X tons, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 572% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crude palm oil exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted modest growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 294% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for crude palm oil exports from the Czech Republic, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovakia amounted to +4.1%.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) also remains the key foreign market for crude palm oil exports from the Czech Republic.

The average crude palm oil export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Imports into the Czech Republic

Crude palm oil imports into the Czech Republic surged to X tons in 2022, increasing by 25% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 159%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crude palm oil imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 107%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Sweden (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of crude palm oil to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, crude palm oil imports from Sweden exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fourfold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Sweden totaled +20.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+3.8% per year) and Poland (-12.1% per year).

In value terms, Sweden ($X) constituted the largest supplier of crude palm oil to the Czech Republic, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Sweden stood at +45.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+4.0% per year) and Poland (-7.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average crude palm oil import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 149% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Sweden ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+20.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
