Lubricant Additives Market Size in the Czech Republic
The Czech lubricant additives market declined slightly to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -2.3% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Exports from the Czech Republic
In 2021, overseas shipments of prepared additives for mineral oils increased by 10% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 19%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, lubricant additives exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for lubricant additives exports from the Czech Republic, with a 39% share of total exports. Moreover, lubricant additives exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Spain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovakia totaled -8.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+8.7% per year) and Italy (+4.0% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for prepared additives for mineral oils exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovakia amounted to +3.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+3.8% per year) and Germany (+6.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average lubricant additives export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, lubricant additives export price increased by +91.8% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 45%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, the amount of prepared additives for mineral oils imported into the Czech Republic dropped to X tons, which is down by -10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, lubricant additives imports expanded to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 20%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Austria (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of lubricant additives imports to the Czech Republic, together accounting for 71% of total imports. Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +12.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest lubricant additives suppliers to the Czech Republic, with a combined 69% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +14.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average lubricant additives import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 14% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 16%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
