Postcard Market Size in the Czech Republic
In 2021, the Czech postcard market increased by 4.9% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a mild downturn. Exports from the Czech Republic

Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, postcard exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for postcard exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 64% share of total exports. Moreover, postcard exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X tons), twofold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled -2.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-9.3% per year) and Austria (-20.7% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +2.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-7.8% per year) and Austria (-2.2% per year).

In 2021, the average postcard export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+23.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, purchases abroad of printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards increased by 45% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep setback. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, postcard imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest postcard supplier to the Czech Republic, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, postcard imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Slovakia (X tons), with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany stood at -10.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+73.6% per year) and Slovakia (-8.9% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) constituted the largest postcard suppliers to the Czech Republic, together accounting for 80% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +72.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average postcard import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -9.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 40%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+31.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
