Paddy Rice Market Size in the Czech Republic

The Czech paddy rice market surged to $X in 2022, picking up by 115% against the previous year. In value terms, Hungary ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for paddy rice exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Hungary amounted to +30.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-22.9% per year) and Germany (-21.5% per year).

The average paddy rice export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -40.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a perceptible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 129%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the Czech Republic

Paddy rice imports into the Czech Republic soared to X tons in 2022, jumping by 122% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 1,485% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, paddy rice imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 397%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) were the main suppliers of paddy rice imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 99% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +382.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
