Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -14.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mineral wool exports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +14.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for mineral wool exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, mineral wool exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), threefold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland amounted to +12.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+29.1% per year) and Hungary (+8.8% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for mineral wool exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together comprising 62% of total exports. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 30%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mineral wool imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Poland (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of mineral wool imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 80% of total imports. Slovenia, Belarus, Hungary, the Netherlands and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
