Ukraine (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of baking soda exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 35% share of total exports. Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, China, Germany, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Pakistan, Colombia and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +113.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) remains the key foreign market for baking soda exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 6.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Ukraine amounted to +11.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+13.1% per year) and Russia (+15.9% per year).

The average baking soda export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 22% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 216% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, imports of baking soda into the Czech Republic expanded to X tons, increasing by 3.7% on 2020 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baking soda imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +70.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest baking soda supplier to the Czech Republic, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, baking soda imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland totaled +5.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-4.1% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+3.0% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of baking soda to the Czech Republic, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland stood at +7.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.5% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+3.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average baking soda import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 9.1% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
