Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +115.3% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 21%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Germany (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic support exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 39% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +65.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for spools, cops and similar supports of plastics exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 25% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Denmark ($X), with a 7.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 6.5% share.

In 2022, purchases abroad of spools, cops and similar supports of plastics increased by 6.7% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic support imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined modestly in the following year.

Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic support imports to the Czech Republic, with a combined 55% share of total imports. Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, Slovakia, Slovenia, France, China and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
