Exports from the Czech Republic
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of talc and steatite, when their volume decreased by -21% to X tons. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, talc and steatite exports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 30%. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main destinations of talc and steatite exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 83% share of total exports. Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia, Uzbekistan and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +74.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for talc and steatite exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Serbia, with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland totaled +53.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-0.7% per year) and Serbia (-3.0% per year).

In 2022, the average talc and steatite export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2022, supplies from abroad of talc and steatite increased by 14% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 72% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, talc and steatite imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Austria (X tons), Finland (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of talc and steatite imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 82% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($X), Finland ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest talc and steatite suppliers to the Czech Republic, together comprising 68% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Finland, with a CAGR of +29.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
