Telephone Market Size in the Czech Republic

In 2022, the Czech telephone market increased by 49% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, the total consumption indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +51.0% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, telephone production reached $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -0.1% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 42%. Exports from the Czech Republic

In 2022, shipments abroad of telephones and videophones decreased by -18% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 125%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 149% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Slovakia (X units) were the main destinations of telephone exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 53% share of total exports. Italy, France, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Belgium, Sweden, the UK, Hungary and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +60.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Slovakia ($X) constituted the largest markets for telephone exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together comprising 53% of total exports. Italy, France, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Hungary, the UK, Sweden, Belgium and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

Latvia, with a CAGR of +64.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average telephone export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, jumping by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, telephone export price increased by +33.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+22.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of telephones and videophones, when their volume increased by 12% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 56%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest telephone supplier to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, telephone imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), sevenfold. Poland (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -5.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.4% per year) and Poland (+51.1% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of telephones and videophones to the Czech Republic, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with an 8% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +2.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+3.3% per year) and the Netherlands (+9.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average telephone import price amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 20% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 69% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Spain ($X per unit) and the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) and China ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
