Tin Bar Market Size in the Czech Republic

The Czech tin bar market contracted remarkably to $X in 2022, falling by -15.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded strong growth. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of tin bars, rods, profiles and wires increased by 5.4% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports enjoyed a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 108%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, tin bar exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for tin bar exports from the Czech Republic, with a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, tin bar exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X tons), threefold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +17.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-10.4% per year) and Austria (+54.5% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for tin bars, rods, profiles and wires exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany totaled +28.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-13.5% per year) and Austria (+36.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average tin bar export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 50% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of tin bars, rods, profiles and wires decreased by -18.7% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 104%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, tin bar imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +36.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of tin bar to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, tin bar imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), fourfold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany amounted to +1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+8.9% per year) and Poland (+6.2% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tin bars, rods, profiles and wires to the Czech Republic, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with an 8.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 7.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany amounted to +2.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+11.7% per year) and Poland (+8.4% per year).

In 2022, the average tin bar import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 73%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
