In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Czech wood tool market, when its value decreased by -40% to $X. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 16%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood tool exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +71.1% against 2015 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for wood tool exports from the Czech Republic, with a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, wood tool exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), fivefold. Slovakia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled -7.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+6.3% per year) and Slovakia (-1.9% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for tools of wood exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 4.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +2.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+13.1% per year) and Slovakia (+1.1% per year).

In 2021, the average wood tool export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 52%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, purchases abroad of tools of wood decreased by -0.8% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -20.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wood tool imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +104.4% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 66%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood tool imports to the Czech Republic, with a combined 88% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany and Italy, which together accounted for a further 11%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +53.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wood tool suppliers to the Czech Republic were Poland ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 89% of total imports. These countries were followed by Ukraine and Italy, which together accounted for a further 6.7%.
