Sportswear Market Size in the Czech Republic
The Czech sportswear market rose remarkably to $X in 2021, surging by 8.2% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Sportswear consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of track suits, ski suits and swimwear, when their volume increased by 15% to X units. In general, exports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 30%. The exports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sportswear exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a slight expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 37%. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland (X units), Germany (X units) and Slovakia (X units) were the main destinations of sportswear exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 84% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Romania and Austria, which together accounted for a further 9.2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +22.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for track suits, ski suits and swimwear exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +5.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+24.5% per year) and Slovakia (-7.9% per year).

In 2021, the average sportswear export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.7% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, sportswear export price increased by +27.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, imports of track suits, ski suits and swimwear into the Czech Republic stood at X units, growing by 10% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 54%. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sportswear imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 28%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X units) constituted the largest supplier of sportswear to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, sportswear imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), twofold. Poland (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey totaled +56.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+6.7% per year) and Poland (+66.9% per year).
In value terms, the largest sportswear suppliers to the Czech Republic were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 54% share of total imports.
Poland, with a CAGR of +73.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average sportswear import price amounted to $X per unit, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 58%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
