In 2021, the Czech uncooked pasta market increased by 6.4% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. Uncooked pasta consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) was the main destination for uncooked pasta exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, uncooked pasta exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X tons), with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+74.6% per year) and Poland (+11.1% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for uncooked pasta exported from the Czech Republic were Slovakia ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 82% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Germany, with a CAGR of +96.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average uncooked pasta export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 48% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2021, approx. X tons of uncooked pasta (containing eggs) were imported into the Czech Republic; with a decrease of -13.9% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, saw a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
