The Czech internal combustion engines market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after four years of decline. In general, consumption continues to indicate prominent growth. In 2021, overseas shipments of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines decreased by -23.8% to X units, falling for the sixth year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 506% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, internal combustion engines exports rose slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 592% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Russia (X units) was the main destination for internal combustion engines exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, internal combustion engines exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X units), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X units), with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia amounted to +58.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (-11.7% per year) and Germany (-21.2% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for internal combustion engines exported from the Czech Republic were Russia ($X), India ($X) and Slovakia ($X), with a combined 73% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany, Poland, Jordan and France, which together accounted for a further 14%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Jordan, with a CAGR of +62.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average internal combustion engines export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 37% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 47% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+48.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, the amount of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines imported into the Czech Republic expanded rapidly to X units, surging by 15% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +29.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 64%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, internal combustion engines imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Hungary (X units) were the main suppliers of internal combustion engines imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 99% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +22.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Germany ($X) and Hungary ($X) appeared to be the largest internal combustion engines suppliers to the Czech Republic, with a combined 95% share of total imports.
Germany, with a CAGR of +24.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
