From 2018 to 2022, production of growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports from the Czech Republic
In 2022, overseas shipments of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages increased by 15% to X litres, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at X litres in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages rose to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 32%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Slovakia (X litres) was the main destination for exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from the Czech Republic, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X litres), sixfold. Germany (X litres) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovakia totaled +4.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-6.5% per year) and Germany (-1.9% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 7.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovakia totaled +4.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-6.0% per year) and Germany (+1.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average export price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages stood at $X per litre in 2022, declining by -11.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 14%. The export price peaked at $X per litre in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Spirits, Liqueurs And Other Spirituous Beverages
Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2022, the amount of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages imported into the Czech Republic expanded notably to X litres, picking up by 8.9% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Slovakia (X litres) constituted the largest spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages supplier to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 29% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages from Slovakia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X litres), twofold. Italy (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Slovakia totaled +10.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.8% per year) and Italy (+7.1% per year).
In value terms, the largest spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages suppliers to the Czech Republic were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Slovakia ($X), with a combined 44% share of total imports. Greece, Ireland, the UK, Belgium, Finland, Russia, France, Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +30.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average import price for spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages stood at $X per litre in 2022, waning by -2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per litre. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per litre), while the price for Slovakia ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
