In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for watermelons exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Slovakia stood at -5.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+21.0% per year) and Romania (+31.2% per year).

In 2022, the average watermelon export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 46%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Greece (X tons) were the main suppliers of watermelon imports to the Czech Republic, together comprising 58% of total imports. Hungary, Albania, Turkey, Brazil, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Albania (with a CAGR of +21.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
