In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates, when their volume increased by 16% to X cubic meters. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +19.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Austria (X cubic meters), Germany (X cubic meters) and Italy (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates from the Czech Republic, with a combined 80% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovakia and Poland, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +20.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates exported from the Czech Republic were Austria ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 83% share of total exports. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 5.7%. The export price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Poland (less than $X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2021, supplies from abroad of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates was finally on the rise to reach X cubic meters for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Germany (X cubic meters), Austria (X cubic meters) and Poland (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates to the Czech Republic, with a combined 82% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +18.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates suppliers to the Czech Republic, with a combined 66% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +5.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per thousand cubic meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per thousand cubic meters), while the price for Austria ($X per thousand cubic meters) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
