Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, abrasives imports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 113%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Iceland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of abrasives to Denmark, accounting for a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, abrasives imports from Iceland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), sixfold. South Africa (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Iceland stood at +4.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-5.2% per year) and South Africa (+2,113.9% per year).
