Germany (X tons) was the main destination for durum wheat exports from Denmark, with a 62% share of total exports. Moreover, durum wheat exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Spain (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +5.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+288.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+4.0% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for durum wheat exports from Denmark, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +6.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+289.0% per year) and the Netherlands (+3.3% per year).

In 2022, the average durum wheat export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Denmark
After three years of decline, purchases abroad of durum wheat increased by 182% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep reduction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, durum wheat imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest durum wheat supplier to Denmark, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, durum wheat imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by France (X tons), with an 8.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland amounted to +5.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-16.8% per year) and France (+107.4% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of durum wheat to Denmark, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland stood at +6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-15.3% per year) and France (+112.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average durum wheat import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -2.9% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, durum wheat import price increased by +51.8% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 58% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
