Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen fish fillet exports from Denmark, with a combined 38% share of total exports. France, Israel, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the United States, Belgium, Australia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Denmark
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of frozen fish fillet decreased by -20.3% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, frozen fish fillet imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 53%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Faroe Islands (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Greenland (X tons) were the main suppliers of frozen fish fillet imports to Denmark, with a combined 45% share of total imports. Poland, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, China, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Vietnam and Chile lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +13.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Faroe Islands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of frozen fish fillet to Denmark, comprising 28% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Greenland ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 10% share.
