In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Sweden (X tons) was the main destination for halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports from Denmark, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports to Sweden exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Finland (X tons), fourfold. Norway (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Sweden amounted to -8.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Finland (-12.1% per year) and Norway (-26.3% per year).
In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons exports from Denmark, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Finland ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Norway, with a 9.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Sweden amounted to +4.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Finland (-3.0% per year) and Norway (-11.8% per year).

The average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -44.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 249% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Faroe Islands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+790.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Denmark
In 2022, the amount of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons imported into Denmark was estimated at X tons, picking up by 14% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.5% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of halogenated hydrocarbon derivative to Denmark, accounting for a 28% share of total imports. Moreover, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X tons), twofold. The Netherlands (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled +6.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+8.2% per year) and the Netherlands (-5.0% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), China ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the largest halogenated hydrocarbon derivative suppliers to Denmark, with a combined 55% share of total imports. Sweden, France, Spain, Italy and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Spain, with a CAGR of +119.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 30%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
