In value terms, inactive yeast exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Belgium (X tons), Estonia (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of inactive yeast exports from Denmark, with a combined 55% share of total exports.

Imports into Denmark
In 2021, the amount of inactive yeasts and other dead single-cell micro-organisms imported into Denmark expanded markedly to X tons, increasing by 10% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, inactive yeast imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +54.9% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Estonia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of inactive yeast imports to Denmark, with a combined 74% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Finland, Russia, Ireland and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +375.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Estonia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of inactive yeasts and other dead single-cell micro-organisms to Denmark, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Estonia amounted to +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+8.1% per year) and Germany (+14.5% per year).
