Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Sweden (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of lithium battery exports from Denmark, with a combined 48% share of total exports. Norway, Iceland, Spain, Faroe Islands, France, the UK, the Netherlands, the United States, Finland and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +49.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for lithium battery exported from Denmark were Sweden ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 53% of total exports. These countries were followed by Norway, the United States, Finland, the Netherlands, France, the UK, the Czech Republic, Spain, Iceland and Faroe Islands, which together accounted for a further 31%.

Finland, with a CAGR of +63.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average lithium battery export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Iceland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+25.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, imports of lithium cells ans batteries into Denmark fell to X tons, with a decrease of -12% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lithium battery imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

China (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of lithium battery imports to Denmark, with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Sweden and the UK, which together accounted for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +94.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest lithium battery suppliers to Denmark, together comprising 54% of total imports.
