In 2021, the Danish toy market increased by 72% to $X, rising for the third consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption saw strong growth. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Sweden (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the main destinations of toy exports from Denmark, together comprising 49% of total exports. France, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Belgium and Iceland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +23.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sweden ($X), Germany ($X) and Norway ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for toy exported from Denmark worldwide, together comprising 47% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, Spain and Iceland, which together accounted for a further 40%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +28.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average toy export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 120%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Iceland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Denmark
In 2021, approx. X tons of dolls and toys were imported into Denmark; picking up by 15% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, toy imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest toy supplier to Denmark, with a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, toy imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), sixfold. Sweden (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-4.4% per year) and Sweden (+1.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dolls and toys to Denmark, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-1.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+4.7% per year).

The average toy import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
