Germany (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the main destinations of non-alloy steel u-section exports from Denmark, together comprising 87% of total exports. Sri Lanka, Latvia, Faroe Islands and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.7%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Finland (with a CAGR of +172.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sweden ($X), Germany ($X) and Norway ($X) constituted the largest markets for non-alloy steel u-section exported from Denmark worldwide, together accounting for 86% of total exports. In 2022, the average non-alloy steel u-section export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 31% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Faroe Islands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Denmark
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of u-sections of non-alloy steel, when their volume decreased by -2.2% to X tons. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +10.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy steel u-section imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-alloy steel u-section to Denmark, with a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, non-alloy steel u-section imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Luxembourg (X tons), with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+24.1% per year) and Luxembourg (+9.0% per year).

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Spain ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
