The Danish market for welded and cold-formed sections of steel was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after four years of decline. In value terms, welded and cold-formed steel sections exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 281% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main destinations of welded and cold-formed steel sections exports from Denmark, together accounting for 69% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +198.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for welded and cold-formed steel sections exported from Denmark worldwide, together accounting for 45% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Denmark
In 2022, overseas purchases of welded and cold-formed sections of steel were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, welded and cold-formed steel sections imports soared to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 44%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of welded and cold-formed steel sections to Denmark, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, welded and cold-formed steel sections imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Latvia (X tons), with a 3.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland totaled +14.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.7% per year) and Latvia (-13.2% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of welded and cold-formed sections of steel to Denmark, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 6.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Latvia, with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Poland totaled +12.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-6.4% per year) and Latvia (-9.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for welded and cold-formed sections of steel amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -23.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
