The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 118%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

Latvia (X cubic meters) was the main destination for exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates from Denmark, with a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates to Latvia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X cubic meters), twofold. The Netherlands (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.

In 2021, overseas purchases of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates were finally on the rise to reach X cubic meters after two years of decline. Overall, imports showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 51%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Latvia (X cubic meters), Estonia (X cubic meters) and the United States (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates to Denmark, together accounting for 44% of total imports. Norway, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Brazil, Portugal, Lithuania and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +215.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price continues to indicate a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 6.8% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Brazil ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
