Australia (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.5% share.

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for agricultural appliances exports from the Dominican Republic, comprising 24% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Australia, with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to -2.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-1.7% per year) and Australia (+13.9% per year).

Overall, export price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine years. After three years of growth, overseas purchases of agricultural appliances decreased by -12.3% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, agricultural appliance imports fell significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 114% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest agricultural appliance supplier to the Dominican Republic, accounting for a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, agricultural appliance imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X units), with a 5.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +23.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+9.9% per year) and the United States (-14.7% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Spain ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest agricultural appliance suppliers to the Dominican Republic, together accounting for 58% of total imports. These countries were followed by Mexico, Italy, Israel, Turkey and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 24%.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +419.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average agricultural appliance import price amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -19.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 39%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+36.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
