Capacitor Market Size in the Dominican Republic

In 2021, the Dominican capacitor market decreased by -8.1% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, consumption recorded a slight downturn. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 235%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, capacitor exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 342%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Thailand (X tons) was the main destination for capacitor exports from the Dominican Republic, with a 23% share of total exports. Moreover, capacitor exports to Thailand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Thailand totaled +130.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+42.5% per year) and India (+120.6% per year).

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for electrical capacitors exports from the Dominican Republic, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 7.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 6.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Singapore totaled +106.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+113.7% per year) and Thailand (+82.6% per year).

In 2021, the average capacitor export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a abrupt descent. Imports into the Dominican Republic

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of electrical capacitors decreased by -76% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 261%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, capacitor imports shrank significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 173%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
