Imports into the Dominican Republic
Glass fibres and wool imports into the Dominican Republic fell slightly to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -2.4% against 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 235% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, glass fibres and wool imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 233% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of glass fibres and wool to the Dominican Republic, with a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibres and wool imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Mexico (X tons), with an 18% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +5.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+2.2% per year) and Mexico (+21.0% per year).
