From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Saint Lucia stood at +4.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Guyana (+161.6% per year) and Barbados (+7.5% per year).

In value terms, Saint Lucia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for herbicides exports from the Dominican Republic, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Barbados ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Guyana, with a 12% share.

In 2021, overseas purchases of herbicides increased by 3.7% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports recorded a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, herbicide imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +28.2% against 2019 indices.
