Overall, exports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 688%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 435% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

The United States (X units) was the main destination for exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments from the Dominican Republic, accounting for a 87% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (X units), eightfold.

Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 1,090% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant increase. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +63.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+33.3% per year) and Turkey (+73.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average import price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -14.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, import price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments increased by +59.6% against 2018 indices.
