The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, propyl and isopropyl alcohol exports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 123% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), Jamaica (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of propyl and isopropyl alcohol exports from the Dominican Republic, together accounting for 90% of total exports. Guyana and Haiti lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.9%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Guyana (with a CAGR of +9.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Trinidad and Tobago ($X), the United States ($X) and Jamaica ($X) constituted the largest markets for propyl and isopropyl alcohol exported from the Dominican Republic worldwide, with a combined 92% share of total exports. In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of propan-1-ol (propyl alcohol) and propan-2-ol (isopropyl alcohol), when their volume decreased by -41.8% to X tons. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a tangible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 188%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In value terms, propyl and isopropyl alcohol imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 163%.
