Haiti (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) were the main destinations of sorghum exports from the Dominican Republic, together comprising 94% of total exports.

From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+228.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Dominican Republic
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of sorghum decreased by -93.6% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a sharp downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 2,090%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sorghum imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1,978%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sorghum to the Dominican Republic, with a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, sorghum imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X kg), more than tenfold.
