Turks and Caicos Islands (X tons) was the main destination for concrete tile exports from the Dominican Republic, accounting for a 81% share of total exports. Moreover, concrete tile exports to Turks and Caicos Islands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bahamas (X tons), fivefold. Haiti (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.9% share.

In 2022, overseas purchases of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone increased by 84% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 793%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 349%. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of concrete tile to the Dominican Republic, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete tile imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 16% share.
