In 2022, the East Asian agglomerated dolomite market decreased by -14% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Agglomerated dolomite exports reduced remarkably to X tons in 2022, waning by -16.8% on the year before. Overall, exports faced a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, agglomerated dolomite exports declined markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 56%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

South Korea was the largest exporter of agglomerated dolomite in Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 62% of total exports in 2022. China (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (16%). Hong Kong SAR (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to agglomerated dolomite exports from South Korea stood at -19.9%. At the same time, Hong Kong SAR (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hong Kong SAR emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +6.8% from 2012-2022. In value terms, South Korea ($X) remains the largest agglomerated dolomite supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in South Korea amounted to -18.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Taiwan (Chinese) (-6.5% per year) and China (-9.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of agglomerated dolomite decreased by -29.6% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 145% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, agglomerated dolomite imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 161%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Imports by Country

South Korea represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to 52% of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Japan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 46% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +28.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, South Korea ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Japan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 98% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +21.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -1.8% against the previous year. Import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, agglomerated dolomite import price decreased by -5.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
